Simultaneously, it knows how to pack an emotional punch. So yeah, I rented it. Obviously, it didn’t come with the pack-in player’s guide, so I only made it so far before I had to return it. Then I rented it again. And again. And again. Eventually, my parents noticed that my college fund was being given to Blockbuster, so they nipped the problem in the bud and bought it for me. Bloodborne initially presents as a work of Gothic horror – you spend the opening hours inching through Yharnam’s dark alleyways and ominous churches, culling hordes of muttering werewolves – but this soon gives way to a weird tale worthy of Lovecraft himself. But its ambitious story – of religious and scientific schisms, of dreams and reality, of idiot gods and nightmare newborns – is told not in the overwritten prose favoured by Lovecraft but by an exceptionally savage third-person action game. From Software intentionally ditched Dark Souls’ trusted shield to force the player to be more aggressive. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki wanted every slash inflicted by its arsenal of gruesome weapons to feel as if you were fighting for your life. DOOM changed my life. My gaming life, at least. Having spent my entire existence up to that point playing platformers, side-scrolling action games, etc. on 8- and 16-bit consoles, DOOM’s first-person shooting was a jaw-dropping paradigm shift. Everything about DOOM was incredible. The graphics were colorful and convincing. Lightning was spooky. It felt like you were on a Martian moon. It’s music was memorable. Weapon design was brilliant, and enemy design even more so. From the imps to the Cacodemons to the Cyberdemon, nearly every creature in DOOM was the stuff of nightmares – and in a then-unheard-of gameplay twist, they hated each other as much as they hated you. And then there was DeathMatch. Whether you were connecting two PCs with a serial cable for one-on-one action or throwing a LAN party where four people hauled their PCs to the same place (bulky CRT monitors and all!) to chainsaw each other in the game, DOOM DeathMatch changed everything. Yankees greats Derek Jeter and Paul O’Neill threw out the first pitches for World Series Games 3 and 4 at Yankee Stadium this week. Tonight, the Yankees will turn to another pinstripe great to lift the team before the game.
At the time of the announcement, their new cross-town rivals, the New York Highlanders (now the New York Yankees), were leading the AL, and the prospect of facing the Highlanders did not please Giants management. Boston won on the last day of the season, and the leagues had previously agreed to hold a World’s Championship Series in 1904, but it was not binding, and Brush stuck to his original decision. In addition to political reasons, Brush also cited a number of legitimate grievances, including the lack of rules under which revenue would be split, where games would be played, and how they would be operated and staffed.
But as the Series shifts to the Bronx for Game 3 on Monday night at Yankee Stadium, with the Dodgers up 2-0 in the best-of-seven, the big stars are faced with big questions — about Ohtani’s availability and Judge’s invisibility.
Game 6 of the 1975 World Series is regarded by most as one of the greatest World Series games ever played. These series were arranged by the participating clubs, as the 1880s World’s Series matches had been. One of them, a best-of-nine affair matching that year’s pennant winners – the Pittsburgh Pirates of the NL and Boston Americans (later known as the Red Sox) of the AL – has come to be regarded as the 1903 World Series. It had been arranged well in advance by the two club owners, as both teams were league leaders by large margins.

Game 3 world series
There was a wave of exits after Gleyber Torres’ strikeout in the seventh but it accelerated in past inning or so. A tepid “Let’s go Yankees” chant started picking up but it was more like a sleepy midseason game rather than a World Series contest.
Here’s why I hated the idea of having Iguchi bunt. You’re basically making it a situation where either Dye knocks the runner in, or PK isn’t going to get a chance to hit. Especially with the short porch in LF, it’s often hard to score on a single at the field. Like someone mentioned earlier, if you’re going to do something, try a hit-and-run.
Anthony Volpe delivered the biggest hit for the Yankees this entire series: a grand slam that erased the lead the Dodgers got when Freddie Freeman notched a home run in a record-setting sixth straight World Series game.
The homer is coming. If we’ve learned anything from watching Judge all these years, there may be more coming quickly afterward. The Dodgers should probably try to hurry up and finish off this series before Judge lights up. Because he’s about to.
