Prior to release, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game received nominations for Best Downloadable Game of E3 2010 by both GameSpot. It was nominated for Best Downloadable Game and won Best Adapted Video Game at the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards.
10 years after its original release, Scott Pilgrim vs The World is still a great “retro” brawler, full of pop culture references, and incredibly fun in multiplayer (local or online, coop or versus) up to 4 players.
There may be no new content besides the previous DLC being included, but Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition takes what was already a really fun beat ’em up and makes it all the more accessible to a whole new generation of gamers.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World is really enjoyable, even if at times it can be really frustrating. The music is incredible and it has an amazing style unlike anything else out there. If only it had online co-op. But it doesn’t. And so, while really cool, Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World is far from perfect.
You unlock more moves as you level up, but for the most part you’ll be finding randomly discarded items, picking them up, and hitting your foes with them. Even though it’s essentially the same thing over and over, there’s enough variety that it never gets old. Like playing the guitar, it’s a repetitive action, but it’s all about the way you repeat it. Just remember to duck when Knives picks up a bicycle.
